Our Delicious Story
Once upon a time, boy meets girl…
Both are young aspiring chefs. They’re passionate about good food, but employment is scarce, and they’re short on money.
They invest all they have in a street stall with a second-hand gas grill and set up business serving lunches in a busy city marketplace.
They source the freshest, best ingredients.
Their lunches are simple but delicious.
They charge affordable prices.
They make little profit, but they keep at it.
Their customers keep returning
After a while they’re able to buy a better grill, and then later establish a permanent street kitchen.
Someone suggested they should really have some signage. They’d never even considered a name.
In the end, they took the name that their loyal customers had always called them by, and in 2010, ‘The BBQ Place’ was born.
Today, they own what many have called the best steakhouse in town.
The setting may have changed but the ambition never has. The constants remain; the quality of ingredients, the skill in preparation and the determination never to have a dissatisfied customer.
Jethro and Rita are proud to welcome one and all to the BBQ Place.

People seem to love our relaxed atmosphere and eclectic decor! It’s a real mix of genres and styles and everyone finds some aspect that appeals. We have customers who also request the same booth or table because it reminds them of something from their past.
